Who Are We (or should I say “I”)
Welcome to FreeDigitalPhotographyTutorials.com – a website created to share the very best dslr training available online so that you can become a great photographer.
My name is Stephen Hockman and I’m the one who created FreeDigitalPhotograhyTutorials.com, or as I like to call it FreeDPT for short! Even though I’m not a full-time photographer (although I’d like to be and trying my hardest to become one), I spend a lot of my time shooting photographs and looking for ways to improve upon my skills.
As an aspiring professional photographer I spend countless hours surfing the net to find as many free dslr training tutorials, tips and tricks on photography as I can. Well, let’s just say I’ve ended up bookmarking over 100+ websites on photography! And boy, is that a lot to keep up with!
And So An Idea Was Born
After I realized I had bookmarked so many websites on dslr photography, I thought to myself, “There has to better a better way for me to keep track of all of these cool tips, tricks and tutorials that I’ve found.” And so, my idea for this website was born.
In 2010, I bought a web hosting account, designed this website (by the way that’s my full-time job…a web designer and video production specialist which I hope to replace with full-time photographer at some point), called it PhotographyCollectionSites.com and started collecting all of the best dslr training tips and tricks that I found while surfing the net.
At first this website was only to serve as a personal collection of photography tips – one that I could use to store the best dslr training I found online. But, as a regular contributor to PentaxForums.com and ThePhotoForum.com I often found myself sending people back to my website to learn about a cool tip or trick I had learned.
And so, after many people told me how useful that website was for them to learn how to become a better photographer, I decide to change the name to FreeDigitalPhotographyTutorials.com and share it with the world.
As I Learn, You Learn – for Free
Since I made this website public, I decided that I needed to come up with a mission statement. One that would keep me on track with the purpose of this website. And this is what I came up with:
Our Mission: To provide others with the most helpful resources on photography in order to help each and every photographer become the best photographer they can be. All for free.
So, browse through the website and being your journey to becoming a better photographer. Hopefully one day we’ll both be be able to quit our day jobs and become real professional photographers and in the end given thanks to all of the free dslr training photography tutorials, tips and tricks we learned along the way!
